VITIS expands its product range internationally with the release of VITIS kids and VITIS junior in Chile, Belgium and Peru

VITISinfantilperuchilebelgica

VITIS, whose goal is to offer oral hygiene options to effectively meet the needs of every mouth type, expands its range of products internationally by launching the VITIS children’s line with VITIS kids and VITIS junior toothbrushes and dental gels in Belgium, Chile and Peru.

This expansion began in Peru in January 2018, when both VITIS kids gel and toothbrush and VITIS junior gel and toothbrush were brought to market. Afterwards, during the month of September, these items were released in Chile and also in Belgium, where they are being presented to the public during the DENTEX meeting being held in early October.

VITIS kids and VITIS junior are specially-designed to meet the oral needs of our little ones, helping to form proper daily oral hygiene habits.

The emergence of a baby’s first teeth, taking care of primary teeth and the eruption and care of permanent teeth, are just some of the developments that take place in children’s mouths.

It is important to fully understand each phase and the specific care that must be carried out in each of these. “If we consider the changing oral needs of children throughout their growth, it will be easier for them to maintain good health and hygiene and, in turn, to avoid the onset of tooth decay and other diseases down the road”, explains Dr. Xavier Calvo, Periodontist, DDS and Medical Advisor at DENTAID, an expert oral health laboratory. “We will also help children to acquire a habit of cleaning and care that will stay with them throughout their lives,” adds Dr. Xavier Calvo.

Dental hygienists from all over Spain take a refresher course to learn more on how to improve the oral health of children

Aula DENTAID BCN_ grupo

Tooth decay, gingivitis and molar incisor hypomineralisation are three of the main reasons our little ones pay visits to the paediatric dentist. Tooth decay in children up to 12 years is one of the most prevalent non-transmissible infectious diseases and is a public health problem affecting more than 40% of children.

This past June, Aula DENTAID, the company’s training area, closed the month having delivered 20-some training sessions entitled “An Update in Paediatric Dentistry: How to prevent oral disease from childhood through adolescence”, with participation by over 1,500 professionals from cities all across Spain.

These courses focused on discovering the characteristics of the oral cavity throughout the different stages of a child’s growth and the dental care potentially needed during each of these stages. Some fundamental differences existing with regard to a child patient’s dental treatment compared to that of an adult patient were also explained, with a special emphasis on managing a child’s behaviour in the dental office.

Dr Xavier Calvo, DDS, Periodontist and Medical Advisor at DENTAID points out that “ineffective care of baby teeth leads to sequelae in permanent teeth, as these may erupt with caries and be affected by a greater risk of gingivitis in surrounding tissues due to tooth malposition, ultimately causing unnecessary pain and discomfort for children”.

Recommendations for children’s oral hygiene

Children’s oral hygiene must begin from the birth, by first cleaning the gums and then the teeth as soon as they first emerge, with specific products. The first check-up with a paediatric dentist is advised before a baby’s first birthday, and it is recommended to visit this specialist once a year, or more often, if needed.

Europerio_720px

EuroPerio9 took place from June 20 to 23, at the RAI convention centre in Amsterdam. This global scientific meeting point served to announce the latest news regarding periodontal health and its impact on general health. The success of this event was reflected in the nearly 10,000 participants from more than 100 countries around the world who did not want to miss the leading event in the sector.

DENTAID, an expert Oral Health company, presented 9 research studies conducted in the DENTAID Research Center:

  1. An oral communication: Beta lactamase genes and antibiotic multiresistance in amoxicillin resistant isolates obtained from patients with periodontitis.
  2. An oral presentation of a scientific poster focused on the Transcriptome analysis of a 4-coloniser community during biofilm formation.

In addition, seven E-posters were presented. Carried out by investigators from the DENTAID Research Center, some of these studies have been in collaboration with American and European universities or with other research centres.

THE IMPORTANCE OF COMPLETE ORAL HYGIENE: INTERPROXIMAL HYGIENE

DENTAID had a booth in the exhibition area to present its latest innovations, with a special introduction of the Interprox product range to emphasise the importance of interproximal cleaning for achieving 100% complete oral hygiene.

The new Interprox campaign was launched, focusing on disclosing the specific features of the widest range of interproximal brushes developed by oral health professionals for the complete removal of oral biofilm from interproximal spaces.

Over the four days of the meeting, more than 120 sessions were offered by world-renowned experts in periodontology and implant dentistry. Issues also to be addressed include: global responsibility for periodontitis, the role of nutrition and the consequences of obesity on gingival health, the impact of sleep disorders on periodontal health, the role of intestinal microbiota on gum disease, gum diseases that affect the rest of the body and the relationship between periodontitis and diabetes and between periodontitis and cardiovascular disease.

DENTAID launches in Spain PERIO·AID® Bioadhesive Gel: maximum postoperative protection

perio

Following oral surgery, it is essential to minimise the consequences resulting from the intervention and to repair the damaged tissues as soon as possible, while preventing the accumulation of bacteria that could increase the risk of infection of the treated area.

It is also necessary to adequately protect the wound to promote faster healing and reduced inflammation.

With these goals in mind, DENTAID developed Perio·Aid® Bioadhesive Gel with antiseptic, regenerative and healing properties, thanks to its unique formulation containing chlorhexidine, hyaluronic acid and panthenol.

EXCLUSIVE TECHNOLOGY AND FORMULATION

Perio·Aid Bioadhesive Gel incorporates DENTAID technology hyaluronrepair, a clinically-backed and innovative technology containing hyaluronic acid, a component naturally present in the oral mucosa. Its inclusion in the formula allows for the formation of a protective coat that favours rapid regeneration and repair of damaged tissues.

Its formula includes:

  • 0.20% CHLORHEXIDINE: It is the most effective antiseptic, considered the Gold Standard, for its bactericidal and bacteriostatic actions against a wide spectrum of bacteria and other microorganisms in the oral cavity. Its main action is to prevent the development and accumulation of oral biofilm.
  • 20% HYALURONIC ACID: A component that is naturally present in the oral tissues. It promotes the proliferation and migration of fibroblasts and epithelial cells and forms a protective layer, which helps to regenerate damaged tissues and accelerates the repair process thereof.
  • 5% PANTHENOL: It promotes a reduction of gingival inflammation in the affected area and also stimulates the regeneration of tissues, aiding in their recovery.

ACTIONS

  • Antiseptic action: inhibits up to 92.4% of oral biofilm growth in an experimental model in vitro.
  • Regenerative action:promotes the regeneration of damaged gums and oral mucosa.
  • Repairing/healing action: supports rapid restoration and healing of surgically treated tissues.
  • Anti-inflammatory action:helps to reduce inflammation and the need for taking analgesics.
  • Long-acting bioadhesive effect:protects oral mucosa thanks to the bioadhesive properties of the formula.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Perio·Aid® Bioadhesive Gel is recommended to minimise the consequences arising from surgery, and to obtain post-operative benefits, as well as antiseptic protection in post-periodontal and/or peri-implant surgery,  following dental extractions or after the placement of dental implants.

After in-office surgical procedures, it is recommended to apply the gel locally on the treated gum or oral mucosa to avoid or reduce bacterial colonisation to the extent possible.

It can also be used after the placement of dental implants or in cases of peri-implant mucositis or peri-implantitis, by applying the gel locally to the neck of the implant or to prosthetic abutments.

It can be used about 3 times a day or after meals. It is recommended not to ingest any food or drink for a half hour after its application.
