DENTAID continues to support professional training in Dentistry and is once again collaborating with the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela (USC) in the upcoming Periodontology Refresher Course. The programme is set to commence in November and will run through the school year to June 2017 with a total of 7 training modules. (See list).

Training oral healthcare professionals has for years been one of the main focuses of DENTAID, which once again is showing its commitment in this regard by sponsoring the Periodontology Refresher Course organised by the Periodontology Teaching Unit of the Department of Stomatology at USC. This face-to-face course will consist of theoretical training to take place in the classrooms of the School of Dentistry at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. In addition to these theoretical sessions, participants will attend live surgeries, conduct experiments on pig jaws and/or dental models and will give practice presentations and discussions on clinical cases and treatment planning.

The Director of the Periodontology Refresher Course is Dr. Juan Blanco, Chairman of the European Federation of Periodontology, and 16 professors from the School of Dentistry at USC will participate by giving lectures during the 7 course modules. In addition, a team of guest lecturers, including 10 professionals from different geographical areas of Spain will collaborate by leading several of the training sessions.

The course will begin this coming November 4 with a module on basic diagnostics and treatment of periodontal disease. During that first weekend, Dr. Xavier Calvo, Periodontist and Medical Advisor at DENTAID, will participate by delivering a session on Antiseptics.

The course fee is 1,900€ and registration will be open from September 19 to 23. You may pre-register as of September 12 by sending an email to the following address: periodoncia@usc.es
