The SEPA oral health and periodontology meeting, which took place in the Seville Exhibition and Convention Centre, welcomed over 5,000 dentistry professionals, who were able to discover DENTAID’s latest oral health innovations.
Perio·Aid, the oral antiseptic indicated for the treatment, maintenance and control of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, announced to SEPA that, as of May, it will present its all-new Perio·Aid 0.20 Bioadhesive Gel in dental clinics. The new VITIS children’s range, for all stages of growth, also stirred interest among the attendees who were provided with a private cosmos to learn about the unique features of each of the seven products that make up the range. Also displayed were VITIS sonic electric toothbrushes, Waterpik water flossers and the VITIS gingival and Perio·Aid product lines.
In parallel, DENTAID, in its commitment to science and scientific research, sponsored different scientific conferences by renowned doctors including Jan Derks and Giovanni Salvi, in their lectures on the clinical management of peri-implant pathologies, Dr Patricia Solano, on comprehensive dental hygiene in paediatric dentistry and Dr Francisco José Enrile on new technologies for basic periodontal treatment.
Meanwhile, with the aim of increasing social awareness of the importance of dental hygiene and the implications of gingival health on overall health, the “Caring for your gums” dental check-up campaign took place in the Santa Justa station of Seville over the three days of the meeting. After the check-up, a VITIS gingival dental kit was given out for home prevention.
VITIS gingival has received the Challenger Award in the Netherlands, one of the most prestigious honours of the Dutch pharmacy channel.
This award is given to companies that have shown remarkable growth with innovative products that strengthen a category, in this case the award-winning range was VITIS gingival.
The contest’s panel of judges chose VITIS gingival unanimously as the winner, for its complete formula to improve the health of teeth and gums. The concept of the product was considered particularly interesting as it builds a bridge between the dental practice and the pharmacist. The recommendation that comes from the dental clinic helps to stimulate sales and, this way, VITIS gingival adds value to the oral health category and to the role of the pharmacist as a health professional.
The award was presented by Jan-Derek Groenendaal, CEO of ETOS, a major health and beauty wholesaler and renowned pharmacy chain in the Netherlands.
This award is the result of the significant growth and innovation of DENTAID in the Netherlands, which reflects the company’s international commitment, reaching more than 70 countries around the world.
DENTAID participated in Expodental from March 15-17, where the company proudly announced its all-new VITIS sonic brush in an exclusive area where attendees were able to personally test this revolutionary device’s sonic power.
Another highlight was the Waterpik® Cordless Express Water Flosser WP-02, an oral irrigator proven to yield great oral health benefits. Because it is battery operated and thanks to its lighter and more portable design, it is ideal for bathrooms with limited space or for use outside the home.
In addition, the company launched its new VITIS children’s range adapted to all stages of growth, and exhibited its VITIS gingival and Perio·Aid product lines, along with all other Dentaid products.
This trade fair has become an industry benchmark, both nationally and internationally, as it gathered 31,144 professionals – 2.6% more than in the previous year – with an international attendance of 2,200 professionals from 73 different countries.

Once again DENTAID and the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA) joined forces to carry out this symposium, which has become a leading scientific meeting for oral health professionals.
This Symposium focused on updating dentists and hygienists on news relating to periodontal and peri-implant diseases, as well as the best ways to prevent these diseases, how to treat them and how to keep them under control or prevent their recurrence.
The Symposium was given by doctors of dental medicine, experts in the field, including Dr Silvia Roldán, who explained that 11.2% of the world population is affected by severe periodontitis and that over 12 million Spaniards suffer from periodontal disease. Dr Elena Figuero made special emphasis to the principal systemic diseases related to periodontitis: diabetes, cardiovascular disease and adverse effects during pregnancy are some of the ones most strongly backed by science.
According to Dr Andrés Pascual, more than 74% of patients do not know what peri-implant disease is, and therefore education constitutes the frontline of a preventive approach. Along these lines, both Dr María Rioboo and Dr Ana Carrillo stressed the importance of investing time in education for patient health, and they mentioned a more preventive stance in which patients assume responsibility and participate, which was something upon which all speakers of this Symposium agreed.
Dr Gerardo Gómez chose to highlight the importance of the oral health team and its role in promoting health. The key is to team up for general health, marking prevention as the first and essential step: brushing your teeth at least twice a day and getting regular check-ups at the dentist.
In addition, DENTAID took the opportunity to launch a solidarity action backed by VITIS hygienists (www.higienistasvitis.com). The initiative entailed involving the participants to donate a toothbrush to the organization Odontología Solidaria (Solidary Dentistry) by pressing a button at any of the official counters. Without a doubt, thanks to the involvement of the professionals, it was a success, and more than 4,800 brushes were donated!
