Press conference with media and spokespeople from the Spanish Society of Periodontology (SEPA), the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC) and DENTAID. Hospital Virgen de la Victoria, Malaga.
Cardiologists and dentists have joined forces to work toward the prevention of cardiovascular and periodontal diseases. Existing evidence linking gum disease to heart disease has driven professionals from these fields to create a consensus statement addressed to practitioners from both disciplines.
With the aim of creating a framework for cardiologists, dentists and patients for the prevention and treatment of both diseases, the most prominent cardiovascular health institution (the Spanish Society of Cardiology – SEC) and the most important periodontal health society (the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration – SEPA), have come together backed by the sponsorship of DENTAID to work on the first consensus document offering guidelines and recommendations for professionals and patients.
This consensus statement was presented to the media this past September 22nd in Malaga, coinciding with heart week, in order to raise awareness of this relationship and to offer practical advice on prevention for the general public and for cardiologists and dentists themselves. [Leer más]

Preventive care is even more important when dental implants are placed, to prevent infection and future peri-implant-related problems, which could lead to loss of the bone supporting the implant. This event, organised by the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration, counted on collaboration by Perio·Aid, exclusive sponsor and oral antiseptic industry benchmark.
The Symposium boasted presentations by three exceptional speakers: Dr Juan Blanco, Dr Jan Derks and Dr Giovanni Serino. [Leer más]
